Meeting : For the meeting place, you’ll fix it directly with your mountain guide.
Collective : 100 € per person (from 4 up to 8 participants)
Private : 380 € global (until 8 participants)
This is an activity that takes you up to 3200 m without sleeping in a refuge: thanks to the cable car of the Meije valley. You’ll be roped to your guide and all the participants during the ascension of the glacier (very soft slope) with crampons on your feet and an ice axe in your hand.

Programm

– Meeting point is fixed by the agreement with your Mountain Guide. It could be in front of the Ecrins guide office in Vallouise La Casse.
– Travel to La Grave.
– After the cable car ride, walk on the Girose glacier. Descent by the same route. Ascending elevation: 200m. Descending elevation: 200m. Walking time: 3 to 4 hours.

Equipment

– Mountain pants.
– Warm under clothes.
– Warm fleece jacket.
– Waterproof and breathable jacket.
– 2 pairs of gloves, hat.
– Warm socks.
– Sunglasses, sunscreen for face and lips.
– Medium capacity backpack (30 to 40 litres).
– A minimum of one litre bottle, groceries and picnic.
– Sunscreen, face and lips.

– alpinism shoes with stiff soles that can be fitted with crampons (check with your crampons before you hike to the refuge) (1)

Access

The Ecrins guide office is in Vallouise La Casse, a shopping mall one kilometre before the centre of Vallouise from L’Argentière la Bessée.

Level

You only need to be able to walk on a path, for 3 to 4 hours. You guide will explain you how to walk with crampons on your feet, an ice axe in your hand, roped up.

Price

(Price per person, in group formula).

Price for less than 18 years old: 85 € per person.
Price for Adult: 92 € per person.
Family price (the family being made up of 2 parents accompanying at least one child under 18 years of age): €242 per family or -10%.

This price includes
– Supervision by a high mountain guide from the Ecrins guide office.

It doesn’t include:
– The return trip by cable car.
– The possible rental of the equipment, nor your meals / snacks.
– The trip to La Grave.
– The extra visit to the ice cave.

Period

Route scheduled during the summer between June and September, it also depends on the opening hours of the cable car.
