Glacier Blanc peak, normal way 3527 m
Meeting :
6pm at the Glacier Blanc refuge (2550 m).
Here is an unjustly unknown summit, placed centrally on the long crest from the Agneaux to La Roche Faurio, giving it all its temperament towards the north face of the Ecrins. Its ascent is not very difficult, but remains varied and pleasant.
Programm
– Meet your High Mountain Guide around 6pm at the Glacier Blanc refuge (2550m) which you will reach in about two hours’ walk from Mme Carle’s meadow above the village of Ailefroide.
– The following day, you will leave a little before sunrise time depending on the time of the season, and after climbing the slopes along the Glacier Blanc, you will climb towards Glacier Blanc’s pass. It is then by the southern flank of its eastern ridge that you will reach the summit. Return by the same route.

– Mountain trousers
– Warm underwear
– warm fleece jacket
– waterproof and breathing jacket
– 2 pairs of gloves, bonnet
– warm socks
– sunglasses, sunscreen for face and lips
– backpack, middle size (30 to 40 liters)
– gourde (minimum 1 liter), lunches and snacks, picnic
– headlamps with batteries
– bed sheet. No need for sleeping bags (there are blankets at the refuge)
– alpinism shoes with stiff soles that can be fitted with crampons (check with your crampons before you hike to the refuge) (1)

Access
The Glacier Blanc refuge is accessible by foot from Mme Carle’s meadow where you can park your vehicle (vast carpark). Around 700 m. of ascending elevation.
To access Mme Carle’s meadow, you have to go through the valley, from L’Argentière la Bessée (Hautes Alpes), Vallouise, Pelvoux and Ailefroide. There is a train station at L’Argentière la Bessée (“L’argentière les Écrins").
Level
You need to have a certain ease in putting crampons on and to be able to walk and climb in the rocks (ascent and descent).
Price
This price includes the prestation of a high-mountain guide of the Bureau des Guides et Accompagnateurs des Écrins. It does not include the eventual rental of equipment, neither the night at the refuge or your meals/snacks.
Period
– This tour is planned during summer, from June to September.
– However, rather at the beginning of the season because with the melting of the snow, the itinerary is less pleasant.
– The Glacier Blanc refuge is guarded until middle of September. Out of these dates, you would have to make yourself your meals, with a stove, by taking the food to the refuge.
