Glacier Blanc refuge (2550 m).
This ridge, quickly accessible from the Glacier Blanc refuge offers you a healthy and pleasant climb, in an unimaginable but very real setting. It combines all the pleasures of high mountain with the quality of a classic and sunny climb.
Programm
Meet your High Mountain Guide around 6pm at the Glacier Blanc refuge (2550m) which you will have reached in about two hours’ walk from Mme Carle’s meadow above the village of Ailefroide.

The route follows the edge of the ridge as closely as possible, crossing the successive teeth with well-defined passages, slabs, dihedrons, cracks, and some rope abseils - rappels - during the ascent.

Access
Glacier Blanc refuge is accessible by foot from the Mme Carle’s meadow where you can leave your vehicle (large car park). About 700 m of ascending elevation on the way up. To access “Pré de Mme Carle”, you have to go through the valley, from L’Argentière la Bessée (Hautes Alpes), Vallouise, Pelvoux and Ailefroide. There is a train station at L’Argentière la Bessée (“L’argentière les Écrins").
Level
It is necessary to have a certain ease in cramping, and to climb in 4° degree in the mountains, with a backpack. This involves climbing in the valley and having a very good physical fitness and a certain ease in the rocky terrain "mountain". For this tour you can bring your climbing shoes but this involves wearing your walking shoes in the backpack during the climb. Rating "AD" (« quite difficult »).
