Traverse of Sialouze’s edges
Meeting :
Pelvoux refuge at 5pm.
Granite is of very good quality. Each length - which are full of character - is of exemplary purity. Each movement goes by pure happiness until the rappel line that brings you back to the attack, allowing you to climb lightly.
Programm
- Meeting with your high mountain guide at Pelvoux refuge at 6 pm (which can be reached in 3 hours walking from Ailefroide village).
- The following day, departure at dawn for the traverse. Back at Pelvoux refuge.
Equipment
– Mountain trousers
– Warm underclothes
– warm fleece jacket
– waterproof and breathing jacket
– 2 pairs of gloves, bonnet
– warm socks
– sunglasses, sunscreen for face and lips
– backpack, middle size (30 to 40 liters)
– gourde (minimum 1 liter), lunches and snacks, picnic
– headlamps with batteries
– bed sheet. No need for sleeping bags (there are blankets at the refuge)
– alpinism shoes with stiff soles that can be fitted with crampons (check with your crampons before you hike to the refuge) (1)
– classic ice axe (1)
– crampons that fit your shoes (1)
– harness (1)
– helmet (1)
– hiking sticks (1)

– 2 participants maximum per guide with the collective formula.

Access
Pelvoux refuge is accessible by foot from Ailefroide where you can park your vehicle (large car park).
Around 1000 m of ascending elevation.
Access to Ailefroide by going up the valley from L’Argentière-la-Bessée in the Hautes Alpes, crossing Vallouise and Pelvoux.
Level
Wonderful climbing in granite, in altitude, that you have to do with climbing boots, quite intense with 5c quotation.
