Belvedere of the 3 refuges
Meeting :
Bureau des Guides et Accompagnateurs des Écrins in Vallouise, at 8:30am.
From Puy Aillaud, a picturesque village, you will walk through the mountain pastures amidst cows and marmots, until you reach the ridge above the village of Ailefroide. Panoramic view of three of the most famous refuges in the Ecrins’ massif: Sélé, Pelvoux and Glacier Blanc.
Programm
Departure from Puy Aillaud. The path rises upwards through mountain pastures where cows graze; then marmots come, perhaps chamois. At the bend of the ridge the grass is sharper and you can discover the panorama, in front of you: Pelvoux’ summit, its glaciers, and within reach, the three refuges, Sélé, Pelvoux and Glacier Blanc.
Ascending elevation: 700 m / Descending elevation: 700 m
Total walking time: 6 hours from Puy Aillaud, including breaks (breaks to eat, talk, contemplate, enjoy). It takes about 2.5 hours of effective walking to get to the lookout of the three shelters.
Return to the Bureau des Guides et Accompagnateurs des Écrins in Vallouise at 5:30pm.
